Lake Cabin

The former fisherman's house with its 60m2 living space and 40m2 terrace is in harmony with nature in a unique location on Lake Biel.

Built of wood in 1930 and flooded by water several times since then. Today, the interior has been completely renovated and equipped with the latest comforts, with only the outermost layer of the façade remaining.

What we did

Threatened with collapse, the load-bearing structure was carefully replaced beam by beam. It would certainly have been easier to completely demolish and rebuild the existing structure, but the building authorities demanded that the original exterior be preserved. The structure and interior fittings are built in such a way that the substance dries quickly and suffers hardly any damage in the event of further flooding. The rooms flow seamlessly into one another and merge into one. Natural materials and the immediate surroundings characterize the house and its indoor climate.
